Results from the surveys show that many youth in Halton have assets that support positive mental health, such as strong relationships with their peers and supportive parents at home. However, many youth in Halton continue to struggle with their mental health, with females and students with another gender identity struggling the most, and grade ten students struggling more than grade seven students. These findings point to a need for continued community-wide action to address the mental health needs of Halton’s youth. As a next step, Our Kids Network will be sharing the results with partners, community organizations and youth to better understand and contextualize the findings. These community consultations will be used to move data into action and generate recommendations for concrete steps that organizations, families and individuals can take to support all youth in their mental health.

This report was a one-time initiative specific to students in grades 7 and 10. For additional data and information related to mental health and well-being and other topics related to school children and youth in all grades in Halton Region, the Halton Catholic District School Board and Halton District School board conduct and report on their own surveys, which can be found at:
