What’s new!

After nearly 30 years of offering free learning opportunities, OKN is evolving to better meet the needs of our growing network. As demand for deeper, more specialized support continues to rise, we are piloting a fee-based model to help sustain high-quality learning experiences and ensure long-term stability and excellence in our work.

Select learning opportunities, including workshops, webinars, and conferences, will now be offered as paid events. This shift allows OKN to provide more specialized, high-impact support that responds to the evolving needs of partners across Halton.

Equity remains central to our work. If cost is a barrier, please contact us at elisabeth@ourkidsnetwork.ca.

Staff members from protocol partners organization continue to receive free registrations. See Protocol Partners’ section at the bottom.

Join us for this exciting webinar on the importance of belonging!

During this learning opportunity, Alison Pearson (Manager of the Children and Youth Planning Table of Waterloo Region – CYPT) will share the journey that the CYPT has been on over the past 5 years in prioritizing belonging for children youth. How they came to prioritize, what it means to them, and where they’ve taken the work will all be shared.

Alison Pearson, Manager of the Children and Youth Planning Table of Waterloo Region

Alison Pearson moved to Waterloo Region in 1997 to complete her undergraduate degree and Master’s in Community Psychology at Wilfrid Laurier University. Her career has been dedicated to advancing prevention, effective group processes, and the well-being of children, youth, and families through data-informed community collaboration.

Alison lives in Waterloo Region with her husband and two children and is passionate about strengthening collective efforts that bring community partners together around shared goals. Since 2005, she has played a central role in the Children and Youth Planning Table (CYPT) of Waterloo Region (and its earlier collaborative forms). Today, she serves as the Manager of Community Engagement and Planning, where she leads strategic direction, partnership development, and community-wide initiatives aimed at improving outcomes for children and youth.

In her work with CYPT, Alison has guided the development of multi-year strategic plans, supported community-level research such as the Youth Impact Survey to elevate youth voice in decision-making, and fostered innovative collaboration — including integrating Smart Waterloo Region programming into CYPT’s operations to deepen youth engagement and community impact.
