2023 Early Development Instrument (EDI) Findings

Details

Explore findings from the Early Development Instrument (EDI)!

The EDI is a research tool that measures the developmental wellbeing of kindergarten children across 5 domains of developmental wellbeing:

• Physical health and well-being
• Social competence
• Emotional maturity
• Language and cognitive development
• Communication skills and general knowledge

The EDI provides insight into the ‘whole child,’ going beyond academic skills to provide a fuller picture of how children are doing as they get ready to enter school. It is an internationally recognized research tool, and a key source of early years data in Halton.

This interactive workshop will introduce the 2023 EDI results. It will explore trends over time in Halton, results for the 5 domains of developmental wellbeing, and differences across municipalities and neighbourhoods.

The workshop will feature guest presentations from the Our Kids Network Early Years Resiliency Committee, and Halton Region Public Health, and will explore how the EDI results are used across the region to take action and promote developmental wellbeing.

The workshop is an hour and half in length and will include time for breakout room discussion, and a Q&A session.

All Halton professionals who are involved in promoting the wellbeing of children and families are welcome to attend!
