New survey results from Our Kids Network help paint a picture of youth mental health in Halton

Jul 10, 2024

Our Kids Network has released a new report called “Insights into Youth Mental Health and Well-Being in Halton”, which shares data gathered directly from Halton’s youth.

In the spring of 2023, grade seven and grade 10 students from the Halton District and Halton Catholic District School Boards participated in a set of mental health surveys with questions designed to assess their well-being, happiness, life satisfaction, loneliness, and self-esteem.

The surveys, which were designed by Our Kids Network (OKN) in partnership with the school boards and Halton Public Health, also included questions about factors related to mental health, including relationships with peers and parents, community belonging, safety, bullying, sleep, screen-time, and substance use.

In total, 4,425 grade seven students and 2,869 grade 10 students from both school boards participated.
